Barcelona midfielder wants to defect to Real Madrid
Barcelona midfielder Andre Gomes regrets having rejected Real Madrid’s bid to join the club. The Portuguese midfielder admitted to compatriot Cristiano Ronaldo that he is sorry to join Barcelona, and wants to explore a possible move to Madrid in the future.
As reported by The Daily Star, Gomes has found a tough game time under Barcelona coach Ernesto Valverde. Reportedly, the creative midfielder will move on the transfer window next January, and reportedly Tottenham Hotspur claimed to be interested to recruit him.
After spending his youth in FC Porto, Pastileira and Boavista, Gomes joined the Benfica academy at the age of 18. And, within a year he had made his first appearance for Portugal in 2012.
Gomes has made 40 appearances in two seasons before moving to Valencia on loan in 2014, with a permanent deal a year later.
Gomes became one of the hottest prospects in La Liga in the summer of 2016. Barcelona finally brought the player from Valencia in 2016.
However, Gomes failed to get a place in Barcelona’s first team. He lost to compete with names like Ivan Rakitic, Andres Iniesta.

In fact, the club Catalunya was paying quite expensive for his services, which is 35 million euros plus a bonus 25 million euros. Feeling did not need his services anymore, Barcelona intend to release Gomes on the stock last month. They offer the 24-year-old player to Juventus at a buy price.
But Juventus refused. They claimed only want to bring Gomes on loan with no purchase option.
Over time, Juventus then changed his mind. They are willing to buy Gomes, but only 20 million euros.
